Pfizer, a US-based company that has been fighting patents for more than 30 years, has been making money from Viagra.
The drugmaker has received about $1.6 billion in patent protection from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in just two years.
In the US alone, Pfizer spent roughly $1.2 billion on Viagra, according to figures compiled by Secure Medical.
Viagra has helped a large number of men gain the erection to the point that a woman can even buy it over the counter.
This isn’t the first time Pfizer has taken money from Viagra. In 2015, Pfizer filed a patent covering the use of the drug to treat erectile dysfunction, though that patent was never approved by the FDA.
When the FDA granted approval to Pfizer to make its version of the drug called Viagra, it was generic Viagra. But the drug was available by prescription only in many states.
Pfizer took a bold approach in 2015, to make a generic version of the drug that is already available. It was the first time it had to go generic to be approved by the FDA.
But the generics are still available because the company doesn’t want to lose a lot of patent money if the drug gets approved by the FDA.
“The people who have the patents on this drug are very concerned about the patent protection of the generics,” said Ian Read, a spokesman for Pfizer.
The company says it will not comment on Pfizer’s proposal but will give Pfizer an idea of how much money it has made and if the company wants to keep its patent on the drug. Read also said Pfizer is not interested in a generic version of Viagra, but a cheaper version called Cialis.
Viagra, which has been a mainstay for many men, has struggled to gain approval in the last year because it has the side effects of high blood pressure and diabetes, and other health problems.
A study in The Journal of the American Medical Association, the study examined nearly 2,000 men who had been given Viagra. They took the drug twice a day for six months, in which they took Viagra, in addition to other medications. The results showed that the group taking the drug for six months had more blood pressure, diabetes and heart attacks than the group taking Viagra alone.
In 2014, Pfizer had more than $13 billion in sales of Viagra, according to its annual report, which was approved in March.
Pfizer also claims that it has made a profit from the drug, which sells for roughly $1.8 billion a year.
But Pfizer says that’s only about half of its revenue.
“We are not taking any of these things as a profit,” said Michael E. Ryan, an analyst at the New York-based Credit Suisse P. C. in New York City.
Some of the Viagra money Pfizer makes goes to a private company that’s been fighting patents for years, and that company doesn’t disclose its financial details.
Pfizer is not the first company to take money from Pfizer.
A recent study by Secure Medical found that in 2015, more than 3 percent of patents filed with the FDA were invalid.
The study, published last month in the British Medical Journal, found that the most expensive generic versions of the drug were available at a lower price than the brand name.
In addition, the company’s patent on Viagra was only about $1.3 billion, making it a relatively affordable generic version.
Some analysts say the data shows the company’s profits are falling faster than in years past.
“If there was one company that did not make Viagra, I would be very concerned,” said David J. Bower, a professor of health policy and law at Harvard. “The more people who have the patent, the higher the profits.”
In a conference call with analysts, he said that he believes Pfizer could benefit from Viagra’s relatively cheap price, and that if the drug gets approved in time, it could be the first time it has to go generic.
Pfizer is also facing competition from generic Cialis, which the FDA previously rejected. But generic versions of the drug could also be sold at more affordable prices.
The companies have filed generic versions of Viagra since the drug was approved in 2003.

The term "generic" refers to the active ingredient of a medicine or drug rather than to the advertised brand name under which the medicine is sold. It is a term referring to any drug marketed under its chemical name without advertising.
Pfizer made the originaltablet that is often referred to as the “blue pill”.The patent expired in 2013 which then allowed other pharmaceutical manufactures to make a generic version under the name of the active ingredient called Sildenafil. They are exactly the same medically and perform in the same way with the same side-effects.
As with most branded products, Viagra is sold at a higher price, therefore the generic tablets sold asare much cheaper.
Medically there is no difference between a generic medicine and the branded medicine, as they both have the same active ingredients to make them perform in the same way. They only differ in the “bulking” agents used to fill the tablet as the amount of active ingredient required, in this case Sildenafil, is very small. This makes the tablets bigger and easier to handle.
The main difference between generic andbranded named prescription medicines is cost with generics being much cheaper
Every pharmacy can choose what price they sell at, as there are no fixed prices. It will depend on what price the pharmacy can buy the drug from the wholesaler and the cost of their own overheads. They can they decide what mark-up they require and some pharmacies choose to sell some products at higher prices.

All the pharmaceutical companies are inspected by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) to ensure they manufacturer the drugs to the same quality standard. This means that the key ingredient that is referred to as the “active” ingredient is exactly the same in all brands.
The other inactive ingredients that make up the bulk of the tablet are called “excipients” and can vary.
For those people who are allergic to or have an intolerance to lactose, then the is ideal for you as it is lactose free. You can check the additional excipients on the patient information leaflet supplied with your tablets.
Although medically all the generic tablets are identical, they may look different as they can vary in colour, shape and size due to the varying excipients.
The patent for, owned by Pfizer, expired in July 2013, which then allowed other pharmaceutical companies to produce generic. There are a number of companies now manufacturing which include Accord, Ajanta, Dr Reddy’s, Mylan, Teva, Torrent and Zentiva. Even Pfizer make a that they sell cheaper than Viagra although generally more expensive than the equivalent generic brands.
